Dating to 1975, this lovely St Christopher pendant is crafted in 9ct yellow gold and features the traditional depiction of St Christopher carrying the Christ Child across the water.
 
What makes this particular example stand out is its wonderful decorative surround. The central raised St Christopher motif is framed by a broad polished border before finishing with an unusual fluted, scalloped edge, which catches the light beautifully and gives the pendant so much more interest than a traditional plain medallion.
 
St Christopher has long been regarded as the patron saint of travellers, with pendants traditionally worn or gifted as a symbol of protection and safe travels. It's a wonderfully sentimental piece of vintage jewellery and one that remains just as wearable and meaningful today.
