A gorgeous little piece of Edwardian old gold, packed with symbolism and over a century of history. 

Dating to 1908, this beautiful antique necklace is crafted in 9ct yellow gold by The Albion Chain Co, a Birmingham jewellery manufacturer active during the Edwardian period.

At its centre is the wonderfully detailed figure of St Christopher, traditionally regarded as the patron saint of travellers and worn as a symbol of protection and safe journeys. Surrounding him is a beautifully stylised horseshoe design, another enduring symbol of luck and good fortune. We absolutely love the combination of the two. 

The horseshoe is picked out with elegant linear detailing against a polished gold background, giving the pendant plenty of character without feeling overly ornate. Look closely and you can still see the tiny details within the St Christopher figure, making it all the more special considering this piece is now over 115 years old.

The pendant has recently been professionally cleaned and polished, bringing back the gorgeous warm lustre of the 9ct gold while retaining its wonderful antique character.

Measuring approximately 25mm in length including the bale x 18mm wide and weighing 2.7g, it has a lovely presence without feeling heavy or oversized.

Even better, this one comes complete with a vintage, 17-inch, delicate gold chain, so it's ready to wear and enjoy straight away. It would look beautiful worn alone as an everyday talisman or layered amongst other favourite vintage chains and pendants.
